What are Some Samples of Infectious Pathogens?

3 7
The human body is naturally full of microbes. These microbes only become problematic once the immune system starts to weaken or they enter a part of the body that’s normally sterile.

On the other hand, pathogens cause disease and illnesses the moment they enter the body.

A host is the only thing pathogens need in order to survive. Once they’ve found it, they manage to dodge every immune response that the body makes and using the body’s own resources to replicate before moving on to a new host.

The way that pathogens are transmitted can depend on its type. Most common way of transmission include bodily fluids, skin contact, and airborne particles.
Infectious Pathogens

Infectious pathogens come in different types but the following are the four most common among them:

Virus

Viruses invade the host cells in your body the moment you’ve been infected. They then use the host cells to reproduce and create even more viruses in the body. Once the replication cycle is finished, the new viruses then leave the host cells, destroying them in the process.

Fungi
Of the millions of different fungal species found on the planet, only about 300 or so are known to cause illnesses. They can be found everywhere, whether its outdoors, indoors or on the human skin.

Bacteria

Not all bacteria are harmful to the body and cause illnesses. The ones that do are referred to as pathogenic bacteria. Bacterial infections are more likely to occur in bodies whose immune systems have already been compromised by a virus.

Parasite

Parasites are pathogenic organisms that live in or on a host, feeding on them and damaging the host’s body in the process. Though infections caused by parasites are more likely to occur in tropical and subtropical regions, they can still happen anywhere.
