Ways We Could Dispose Our Pharma Waste at Home

2 10

When was the last time you checked your medicine cabinet? Keeping expired drugs and other medical products at home is dangerous, especially when you have kids around.

But how do you get rid of pharma waste at home?

Disposing Medicines at Home

Here are the top ways you can do to eliminate unused or expired pharmaceutical products at home:

1.    Put them in the trash

You can throw almost all medicines in the trash. These include creams, patches, drops, liquids, over-the-counter drugs in pill form, and prescription pill medications.
Before throwing them out, ensure that you remove them from their original packaging. Put them all in a container, and mix with dirt, cat litter, used coffee, or anything undesirable.
Place them in an empty can or a resealable plastic bag to avoid leakage or spills. Thro them in the trash.
Make sure that you scratch your personal details from the packaging of the products before throwing them out.

2.    Flush them
There are medications that manufacturers recommend flushing when disposing of. It is important to check the flush list before doing this. You can only slush medicines included in the list.

Bottom Line

Check the medical products you have and throw them out if you deem them unsafe. Ensure you throw them properly so other people won't be tempted to reuse them.
