You may ask yourself if there are disposal methods for hospital wastes. The answer is yes. Methods are used to ensure that hospital wastes are properly eradicated to prevent disease spread.

Hospital wastes should be disposed of properly to prevent infectious diseases and contamination of people in the hospital. Some of the methods used to dispose of hospital waste include the following;

·         Through autoclaving

Autoclaving process is very important, especially when dealing with microbiological garbage in the hospital. Autoclaving helps to eradicate hospital waste through sterilization.

The sterilization technique is made possible through the use of steam. Autoclaving is also vital in dealing with toxic wastes from chemicals and pathological wastes.

·         Through chemical fumigation

Chemical fumigation is an appropriate way of dealing with destroying hospital waste, particularly liquid and chemical waste. The most commonly used gas is chlorine.

This method, however, depends on several factors. These factors include the various forms of microorganisms in the hospital waste and the level of contamination of hospital waste.

·         By using irradiation

Irradiation is a method used in hospitals to dispose of hospital waste. Irradiation is crucial in the sterilization process.

The hospital wastes are first shredded, and then water is used to mix them. After the mixing process has been completed, the mixture is superheated to ensure that all the biological components of the waste are neutralized.

·         Through incineration

The incineration method is used in disposing of hospital waste, especially pharmaceutical and pathological garbage. The incinerators are heated to very high temperatures, and then the medical wastes are put in.

This method is very efficient in disposing of the hospital garbage as all the waste is completely burned. This process ensures it doesn't come into contact with people.
